BJP Leader NV Subhash Slams Congress, Terms Allegations ‘Baseless’

The Telangana unit of the BJP has strongly condemned allegations made by Congress leader Pawan Khera against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family. Addressing the media in Hyderabad on Saturday, BJP state spokesperson NV Subhash launched a sharp attack on Khera.

Subhash alleged that Khera was making “baseless allegations” to divert public attention from the Congress party’s internal issues and the failures of Rahul Gandhi . He termed it “highly unfortunate” that family members of the Chief Minister, who have no connection with politics or business, were being dragged into controversies. He further accused Khera of attempting to mislead the people of Assam for electoral gains.

Questioning Khera’s conduct, Subhash asked, “If there is truth in your allegations, why did you flee from Delhi to Hyderabad?” He also pointed out that the Telangana High Court had granted only a one-week interim transit bail , and clearly directed the accused to appear before a court in Assam and present his arguments.

Meanwhile, the family of the Chief Minister has categorically denied the allegations made by Khera regarding passports and Dubai properties linked to his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma . The BJP stated that the so-called evidence was AI-fabricated content created by Pakistani social media groups and was entirely fake.

Responding earlier, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma warned that such allegations should have been verified with the Ministry of External Affairs before being made. He asserted that “Assam Police will track down the accused even from the depths of the underworld.” Sarma further alleged that he suspected the involvement of Rahul Gandhi in what he described as a conspiracy, adding that the investigation could extend to him. He cautioned, “Do not try to intimidate us.”

The controversy between the Assam Congress and the ruling BJP has now escalated into a full-blown political confrontation . With the interim bail period granted by the Telangana High Court nearing its end, there is growing anticipation over the next course of action by the Assam Police.
