BJP hits back at KTR, labels him “Nepo Kid” after Gen-Z protest remarks

Telangana Minister and BRS leader K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has sparked a fresh political clash after warning that India’s Gen-Z population could take to the streets if unemployment and inequality remain unaddressed. His remarks drew sharp criticism from the BJP, which dismissed him as a “nepo kid” attempting to incite unrest.

KTR, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and son of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, cautioned that the country’s young generation may not stay silent in the face of shrinking opportunities. KTR, was at NDTV Yuva's Mumbai edition on Saturday. “If the aspirations of millions of young Indians are ignored, don’t be surprised if they rebel,” he said, stressing the urgency of creating jobs and opportunities.

The BJP quickly countered, accusing KTR of hypocrisy. Party leaders argued that Telangana itself has failed to deliver on employment promises and development. “A leader born with privilege, who hasn’t faced the struggles of ordinary youth, has no right to lecture the nation,” a BJP spokesperson said. They framed his comments as an attempt to deflect from the BRS government’s own shortcomings.

The exchange comes at a politically sensitive time, as India prepares for upcoming state elections and debates intensify around job creation, economic growth, and the role of dynastic politics. With over half of India’s population under the age of 30, the Gen-Z demographic is emerging as both a challenge and an opportunity for political parties.

Analysts note that while KTR’s warning reflects genuine concerns among youth, the sharp counterattack highlights how employment and inequality are set to become central battlegrounds in national politics.
