BJP Demands Ponnam Prabhakar’s Resignation Over Conditions in BC Hostels

Telangana BJP OBC Morcha State President G. Anand Goud on Friday launched a sharp attack on the state government over the condition of BC residential schools and hostels, alleging that students were being forced to live and study in inhuman circumstances.

Referring to reports from a BC Gurukul institution in Nizamabad, Anand Goud said he was deeply disturbed after hearing students describe their hardships in a television interview. He claimed that several classes were being conducted in a single room, making it difficult for students to follow lessons properly. The lack of basic amenities such as nutritious food, safe drinking water and adequate washing facilities had turned hostel life into a daily struggle for children, he alleged.

Holding the government responsible for the situation, the BJP leader demanded the resignation of BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar , arguing that such conditions in institutions under his department reflected a serious administrative failure. He said the minister should take moral responsibility for the state of BC welfare hostels and step down immediately.

Anand Goud also targeted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy , accusing the government of neglecting the welfare of students from backward, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. He alleged that despite making strong public claims about development and governance, the administration had failed to ensure even basic facilities in hostels, including those in the Chief Minister’s home region.

The BJP leader further accused the Congress government of focusing more on internal political issues than on addressing the concerns of disadvantaged students. According to him, the government was spending its time on committees and political management while ignoring the pressing needs of children studying in welfare institutions.

Warning of intensified agitation, Anand Goud said the BJP OBC Morcha would not remain silent if the problems in hostels were not resolved within the next few months. He announced that the party would mobilise parents and students and launch large-scale protests at both district and state levels to pressure the government into taking corrective action.

He urged the state administration to immediately improve infrastructure, living conditions and educational facilities in BC hostels and residential schools to ensure that students receive the quality environment they deserve.
