BJP Demands Nemom Sub-Treasury to Benefit 1,700 Pensioners and 75 Government Institutions

Kerala BJP president and Nemom MLA Rajeev Chandrasekhar has urged Chief Minister V D Satheesan to sanction a sub-treasury in the Nemom Assembly constituency, saying the absence of the facility has caused prolonged inconvenience to residents, pensioners and government institutions.

In a statement shared on social media, Chandrasekhar said he had formally written to the Chief Minister requesting the immediate establishment of a sub-treasury in Nemom. He described it as surprising that a large and populous constituency has continued to function without a dedicated treasury facility for years.

According to Chandrasekhar, the proposed sub-treasury would directly benefit more than 1,700 pensioners, 75 government institutions, and several stamp vendors, all of whom currently have to depend on treasury services located outside the constituency. He argued that the lack of a nearby treasury has resulted in delays, additional travel and administrative inconvenience for citizens and public offices alike.

The BJP leader said the move would strengthen local governance by improving access to essential government financial services, including pension disbursements, official transactions and treasury-related documentation. He added that ensuring such infrastructure is a key part of improving public service delivery and supporting the day-to-day needs of residents.

The demand has also drawn attention to broader local governance and administrative infrastructure issues in Kerala, where access to government services often varies across constituencies. Public representatives have increasingly called for decentralised administrative facilities to reduce pressure on existing offices and make government services more accessible to citizens.

Chandrasekhar said his priority remains securing the infrastructure and development projects necessary to improve the quality of life for the people of Nemom, expressing hope that the state government would act on the request at the earliest.
