BJP Announces ₹10 Lakh Incentive for Unanimous Panchayats: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has fulfilled a promise he made during the previous panchayat elections. He had announced that villages which unanimously elected BJP-backed candidates would receive an incentive of ₹10 lakh from his MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds. He has now released the circular copies pertaining to the sanctioned funds.

An amount of ₹10 lakh each has been sanctioned to Peechupalli village in Ganneruvaram mandal of Manakondur constituency and Vijayanagar Colony Gram Panchayat in Koheda mandal of Huzurabad constituency. In the presence of villagers, sanction letters were handed over to Sarpanches Sama Rajireddy and Katham (Sadhula) Amulya Rajasekhar Reddy .

Stating that the comprehensive development of villages is their primary objective, the Union Minister said the Central government has already sanctioned nearly ₹1,000 crore in phases for panchayat development. He added that development works are ongoing in several villages with these funds and assured that efforts would continue to bring in more funds to transform villages into model villages.

On the occasion, he criticised the Congress government. Questioning the fate of its announcement to provide ₹10 lakh each to 1,203 unanimously elected panchayats amounting to ₹120 crore he asked, “What happened to your ₹120 crore?” He also alleged that the previous BRS government had promised incentives to villages but failed to implement them. Bandi said there was no difference between the present Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and former Chief Minister KCR when it comes to making promises and failing to fulfil them.

Referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of “Gram Swaraj,” he remarked that the Congress had no moral right to speak about it. He asserted that development in villages is being made possible only through the funds being provided by the Centre.
