BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Suppressing Priyanka’s Political Rise

The BJP on Sunday alleged a growing rift between Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, claiming the latter was denied an opportunity to speak at two INDIA bloc events in the national capital.

BJP spokespersons Sambit Patra and Pradeep Bhandari accused the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha of attempting to sideline his sister amid concerns that her political rise could undermine his position.

In a video message posted on Instagram, Patra claimed Priyanka Gandhi was not allowed to address the gathering during a mock Parliament organised by the Congress on Saturday or at the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.

“Could it be that Rahul Gandhi fears that if Priyanka Vadra is projected as a leader, he might be sidelined?” Patra asked, claiming that her “vote has also been stolen” within the Gandhi family.

Bhandari echoed the allegations, questioning whether separate Rahul and Priyanka camps were emerging within the Congress. He further accused Rahul Gandhi of attempting to suppress his sister's political prominence rather than strengthening the Congress or addressing public concerns.

The allegations came as the INDIA bloc intensified its campaign against alleged electoral irregularities. On Saturday, opposition parties held a symbolic “public impeachment” of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that the right to vote was under threat and that the Election Commission was acting at the behest of the Modi government.
