BIRC 2025: Connecting farmers, exporters, and buyers worldwide

T he Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution has formally announced its collaboration with the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) for the upcoming Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025, set to take place on October 30-31 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Recognized as the world’s largest rice-focused gathering, BIRC 2025 promises to be a landmark event for India’s rice sector and the global rice trade.

The conference is expected to bring together over 5,000 farmers, 2,500 exporters and millers, 50 shipping lines, and 1,000 international buyers from more than 80 countries. In addition, it will see participation from diplomatic missions, trade delegations, and senior ministers from foreign governments, creating a historic convergence of key stakeholders in the rice ecosystem.

Dr. Prem Garg, National President of IREF a nd Chairman of Shri Lal Mahal Group, welcomed the collaboration, emphasizing the event’s role in promoting India’s rice industry on a global stage. The partnership reflects the government’s commitment to supporting IREF in positioning India as a leader in rice exports and agricultural inn ovation.

The Department of Food and Public Distribution will support three major initiatives during the conference: the main BIRC 2025 event, the launch of a Coffee Table Book on Indian Rice, and the release of a Vision & Roadmap for the rice sector’s contribution to Viksit Bharat @2047. This roadmap aims to chart the future of India’s rice industry, highlighting innovation, sustainability, and export growth.

BIRC 2025 will provide a dynamic platform for participants to connect directly with global buyers, explore new markets, and witness the latest technological advancements in agriculture. One-to-one networking opportunities will strengthen international supply chains, foster collaboration, and create new business avenues, further enhancing India’s position as a key player in the global rice trade.
