Bihar has added seven new trains to its network, including three Amrit Bharat Express trains and four passenger trains, flagged off today by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. With this addition, Bihar now operates 26 of the 30 Amrit Bharat Express services running across the country, further strengthening the state’s rail connectivity.

The new Amrit Bharat Express trains include:

• Muzaffarpur - Hyderabad (Charlapalli): Bihar’s first Amrit Bharat train connecting to South India.

• Chhapra - Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi: Bihar’s sixth Amrit Bharat train to the national capital.

• Darbhanga- Ajmer (Madar): Enhancing links to Rajasthan.

These modern trains promise fast, safe, and comfortable travel with advanced features such as semi-automatic couplers, fire detection systems, sealed gangways, and talk-back units, marking a major step in passenger safety and convenience.

Alongside these, four passenger trains were also inaugurated to serve local commuters:

• Patna-Buxar

• Jhajha-Danapur

• Nawada-Patna

• Patna-Islampur

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that Bihar’s railway network has grown dramatically over the years. “Before 2014, Bihar’s annual railway budget was around ₹1,000 crore. Today it stands at ₹10,000 crore, with projects worth around ₹1 lakh crore underway,” he said. The state now has a fully electrified network and 1,899 km of new track laid, including major infrastructure like the Patna Rail-cum-Road Bridge, Munger Rail-cum-Road Bridge, and Kosi Bridge.

Since 2014, 21 major projects, including new lines, gauge conversions, and doubling or adding third and fourth lines, have been completed in Bihar, enhancing both intra-state and inter-state connectivity. Many more projects, such as new lines and additional tracks, are currently under construction.

With these new trains and completed projects, traveling within Bihar and to other parts of India will be easier, faster, and safer. These developments are not just about trains, they are about boosting economic growth, tourism, trade, and employment, moving Bihar closer to the vision of a “Viksit Bihar se Viksit Bharat” (Developed India through a Developed Bihar).
