Bihar elections: NDA eyes victory under Nitish Kumar

As Bihar prepares for its 2025 Assembly elections, political activity in the state is intensifying. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh expressed confidence on Wednesday that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will return to power under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Speaking to reporters, Singh said, “It is very good that the election dates have been announced. We were waiting for this. On 14 November, the NDA government will be formed again in Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.”

The 243 Assembly seats will be contested in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14.

Taking a swipe at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, Singh likened Yadav’s repeated claims of becoming Chief Minister to “Mungrilal ke sapne” (Mungrilal’s dreams). He added, “Everyone has the right to dream, but the people of Bihar have already seen the rule of his parents and the 15 years that followed. They will not be misled again.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Chhattisgarh BJP MLA Bhawna Bohra also predicted a historic outcome on November 14. “The people of Bihar are going to create history. The NDA government has consistently delivered on women’s safety, youth empowerment, and schemes like Kisan Samman Nidhi. Once again, an NDA government will be formed on 14 November,” she told ANI.

The Bihar elections will see the NDA facing the INDIA bloc led by Tejashwi Yadav, which includes the RJD, Congress, CPI (ML), CPI, CPM, and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP). Additionally, Prashant Kishor will enter the fray with his new party, Jan Suraaj.

Alongside announcing the poll schedule, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has directed a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists across the country to ensure accuracy ahead of the elections.
