Bihar elections: BJP unveils 45-member campaign team

As Bihar gears up for a crucial Assembly election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced a 45-member Election Campaign Committee, signalling the start of its high-octane push to retain power in the state. The committee will steer the party’s campaign strategy, coordinate outreach efforts, and work to secure a decisive victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The announcement followed a key strategy meeting in Samastipur, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with BJP workers from the Mithila and Tirhut regions. Addressing the gathering, Shah urged grassroots workers to take Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bihar” (Developed Bihar) to every household and ensure a commanding mandate for the NDA.

“All workers from the 12 organisational districts in these regions are committed to reaching every resident with Modi Ji’s vision and the mission of a Developed Bihar,” Shah said in a post on X, underlining the party’s focus on ground-level mobilisation.

During a series of campaign meetings across the state, Shah sharpened the BJP’s election narrative, portraying the contest as one that goes beyond traditional party politics. Speaking in Araria, he declared that the election was not merely about winning seats but about “driving out infiltrators” from Bihar.

“For Rahul and Lalu, this election is about making their party win and installing Lalu’s son as Chief Minister. But for us, it is about protecting Bihar, about removing infiltrators from this sacred land,” Shah said, urging party workers to aim for a two-thirds majority.

The Home Minister also launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress, accusing them of decades of corruption and misrule. He alleged that “Lalu and company” had looted Bihar and presided over numerous scams, contrasting that with the Modi government’s 11-year record, which, he claimed, has remained free from corruption charges.

With the campaign committee now in place and party leaders setting the tone for the battle ahead, the BJP appears ready to go all out in its bid to expand its footprint and lead the NDA to another term in Patna. The next few weeks are likely to see intensified campaigning, with the party banking heavily on its development pitch and strong anti-opposition rhetoric to sway voters.
