Bihar CM Welcomes Vietnamese President To Lam In Gaya Ji On State Visit

Vietnamese President To Lam arrived in Gaya Ji on Tuesday as part of his three-day State Visit to India (May 5–7, 2026) and was warmly received by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary at the airport along with senior officials.

This is President To Lam’s first visit to India after assuming office , and he is accompanied by a high-level delegation , including ministers, senior officials, and a business delegation, reflecting the importance of the bilateral engagement.

After arriving in Bihar, the Vietnamese President is scheduled to visit Bodh Gaya , where he will offer prayers at the Mahabodhi Temple and also visit the Vietnamese Monastery , highlighting the deep cultural and spiritual ties between India and Vietnam.

Chief Minister Choudhary, in a post on X, said that the “spiritual, cultural, and heritage city of Gaya Ji warmly welcomes the esteemed President of Vietnam,” adding that the visit will further strengthen India–Vietnam relations .

Later in the day, President To Lam will travel to New Delhi , where he will receive a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan on May 6 . He is also scheduled to hold wide-ranging talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi , focusing on strengthening cooperation in defence, trade, culture, and regional connectivity .

During his visit, he is also expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu and other senior Indian leaders.

Officials said the visit holds special significance as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of the India–Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership , marking a decade of expanded cooperation between the two countries.

The engagements during the visit are expected to further deepen diplomatic and economic ties between India and Vietnam, while also strengthening cultural and people-to-people connections.
