Bihar Allocates 15 Acres for Sri Venkateswara Temple, TTD Plans Grand Complex
In a significant boost to the expansion of Sri Venkateswara Swamy's spiritual legacy across India, the Bihar Government has allotted 15 acres of land near Patna for the construction of a grand temple dedicated to the deity. The proposed shrine will come up along the banks of the sacred Ganga River , creating a major pilgrimage destination for devotees in eastern India.
According to an official statement issued by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) , Chairman B.R. Naidu met Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and conveyed his gratitude for the state's decision to allocate land for the ambitious project. The temple is part of TTD's ongoing efforts to take the traditions of Tirumala beyond Andhra Pradesh and strengthen the outreach of Sanatana Dharma across the country.
The upcoming temple complex will feature the main shrine of Lord Venkateswara , along with several facilities designed to enhance the pilgrim experience. Plans include a modern Kalyana Mandapam , a sacred Pushkarini , and other infrastructure required to accommodate large numbers of devotees and host religious and cultural activities throughout the year.
TTD has increasingly focused on establishing temples and spiritual centres in different parts of the country, particularly in state capitals and major urban centres. The initiative aims to provide devotees easier access to worship and religious services while promoting the teachings and traditions associated with the Tirumala temple. The Patna project is expected to become one of the most prominent TTD-backed religious centres in eastern India.
Beyond its religious significance, the temple is also expected to contribute to spiritual tourism in Bihar, a state already known for globally renowned pilgrimage destinations such as Bodh Gaya , Nalanda , and Takht Sri Patna Sahib . Situated near the Ganga riverfront, the temple is likely to attract devotees not only from Bihar but also from neighbouring states including Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and regions of Northeast India.
During the meeting, B.R. Naidu felicitated Samrat Choudhary with a ceremonial shawl and presented him with a memento of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. TTD also recalled that the Assam Government had earlier allotted 10.3 acres of land in Kamrup district for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara temple, reflecting growing support from states for the institution's nationwide expansion plans.
With land now secured, TTD is expected to move ahead with planning and development activities, bringing one of Hinduism's most revered temples closer to millions of devotees in eastern and northeastern India.
