Bhivandi Civic Body Orders Action Against 15 Sanitation Workers Found Absent During Surprise Inspection

The Bhivandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation (BNMC) has initiated disciplinary proceedings against 15 sanitation workers after they were found absent from duty without prior permission during a surprise inspection conducted by Municipal Commissioner Anmol Sagar.

According to a BNMC release, the commissioner carried out an unannounced inspection at the Health Department's sanitation cabin on Wednesday. Of the 21 sanitation workers assigned to the unit, only six were present, while the remaining 15 were absent without authorization.

Taking serious note of the lapse, Anmol Sagar directed officials to initiate disciplinary action against the erring employees under the applicable service rules. The civic body said strict action would be taken to ensure accountability and discipline among municipal staff.

The inspection is part of the BNMC administration's broader effort to strengthen attendance monitoring and improve the delivery of essential civic services. Since assuming office, Commissioner Sagar has been stressing greater transparency, administrative accountability and regular surprise inspections across departments to improve governance.

Local reports have also highlighted concerns over persistent absenteeism among sections of the municipal workforce, prompting the administration to tighten oversight and enforce service rules more strictly.

The civic body believes stricter enforcement of attendance norms will help ensure uninterrupted sanitation services and improve cleanliness standards across Bhivandi.
