Bhatti Vikramarka Inaugurates Puligundala Eco-Tourism Hub in Khammam

In a strategic move to position Telangana as a leading eco-tourism destination, the state government has unveiled the Puligundala Eco-Tourism Project in Khammam district, aiming to combine environmental conservation with economic development in remote regions.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka formally inaugurated the project on Wednesday, describing it as part of a broader vision to showcase Telangana’s natural landscapes to a wider audience while preserving their ecological integrity. The initiative is expected to transform Puligundala into a key attraction for nature-based tourism.

Developed with a focus on sustainability, the project offers a range of facilities designed to enhance visitor experience without disturbing the natural ecosystem. These include eco-friendly cottages , boating facilities , access to natural waterfalls , and a jungle safari , creating an immersive environment for tourists seeking outdoor experiences.

Addressing a public gathering, Vikramarka said the government is committed to leveraging the state’s natural resources to strengthen the tourism sector. He noted that eco-tourism has been given priority in the state budget, with Khammam district identified as a potential hub for such initiatives.

To support the project’s development, the Deputy Chief Minister announced a total allocation of ₹4 crore , with ₹2 crore from green funds and the remaining ₹2 crore through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions . The government is also planning a broader tourism circuit by integrating Puligundala with nearby destinations such as the Kanakagiri hills and Kallur hills , with the goal of creating a prominent travel corridor that can attract visitors from across the country.

Officials highlighted that the project is expected to generate employment opportunities for local youth and stimulate economic activity in surrounding villages. Increased tourism is likely to support small businesses, hospitality services, and related sectors, contributing to overall regional development.

At the same time, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that all development work must strictly adhere to environmental safeguards, ensuring that the region’s natural character remains intact.

The inauguration was attended by Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy , Sattupalli MLA Matta Ragamayi Dayanand , Wyra MLA Maloth Ramdas Naik , and Khammam Collector Anudeep Durishetty , among others, reflecting coordinated efforts to drive the project forward.
