Bharti Enterprises and global private equity firm Warburg Pincus on Tuesday announced a strategic investment in Haier India , marking a major move to strengthen the home appliances maker’s presence in the rapidly expanding Indian home appliances market .

Under the agreement, Bharti Enterprises and Warburg Pincus will jointly acquire a 49 per cent stake in Haier India once the transaction is completed. The Haier Group will retain an equal 49 per cent share, while the remaining stake will be held by the company’s Indian management team.

Haier India is currently among the top three players in the Indian home appliances segment and has reported an average annual growth of nearly 25 per cent over the past seven years, one of the fastest growth rates in the industry. The new investment is expected to accelerate the company’s expansion plans, particularly in local manufacturing and product development tailored for Indian consumers.

According to the company, the partnership will strengthen Haier India’s “Made in India, Made for India” strategy by increasing sourcing from domestic suppliers, expanding manufacturing capacity, and driving innovation across its product portfolio. The capital infusion is also aimed at improving competitiveness across the entire value chain.

India’s home appliances market is witnessing steady growth, driven by rising disposable incomes, urbanisation, and changing consumer lifestyles. Bharti Enterprises said it was pleased to partner with Haier at a crucial stage of its growth, expressing confidence that the company would further strengthen its brand by combining global technology with strong customer service in India.

Warburg Pincus said the investment reflects its long-term commitment to India and its focus on supporting high-growth companies through global expertise and a strong operational network. The firm also noted that this marks another collaboration with Bharti Enterprises, building on their previous successful partnerships.

Haier described the deal as a key milestone in its global strategy, highlighting the importance of localisation in international markets. By leveraging Bharti’s deep understanding of the Indian market and Warburg Pincus’s global experience, Haier India aims to deliver products designed specifically for Indian households and emerge as a leading force in the country’s appliance industry.
