'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit' Beats 'Lokah', Becomes Mollywood’s No. 1 Film

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has created a major box office record in Malayalam cinema. The Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju starrer has reportedly collected Rs 305 crore worldwide in 24 days, overtaking 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra', which had a worldwide gross of around Rs 302–304 crore. With this, 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit' has emerged as the highest grossing Malayalam film of all time.

The achievement is particularly impressive because of the speed at which the film reached the milestone. 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra' took around 40 days to cross the Rs 300 crore mark, while 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit' reached the same territory in just 24 days. The film is also continuing its theatrical run, giving it a strong chance of adding considerably more to its lifetime total.

The film’s momentum has remained strong even in its fourth week. Before the latest milestone, 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit' had reached around Rs 288.45 crore worldwide by Day 21, with Rs 158.20 crore coming from India and Rs 130.25 crore from overseas markets.

Its Kerala performance has been particularly strong. The film had already crossed the Rs 130 crore mark in Kerala, becoming the new industry hit in the state and surpassing previous benchmarks set by films including 'Vaazha II', 'Thudarum' and 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra'.

The record also comes after the film crossed the Rs 300 crore worldwide milestone faster than any Malayalam film before it. With audiences continuing to turn up despite new releases, the Nivin Pauly starrer is now looking to push its lifetime collections even higher.

Directed by Girish AD, 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit' stars Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles. Sangeeth Prathap, Vinay Forrt, Suresh Krishna, Bindu Panicker, Srinda, Roshan Shanavas and Meenakshy Raveendran appear in supporting roles.

The film is produced by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran under Bhavana Studios. Vishnu Vijay has composed the music, while Ajmal Sabu handled cinematography and Akash Joseph Varghese edited the film.
