Bengaluru site mishap sparks safety concerns

A tragic accident at a construction site in Bengaluru claimed the lives of two labourers and left another critically injured, police officials confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as Lal Madan, 33, and Rajauddin, 30. Both were reportedly trapped under debris at the site and succumbed to their injuries. Another worker, Saifullah, who sustained injuries in the incident, is currently undergoing treatment and is out of danger, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sarah Fathima stated that the Madiwala Police are investigating the collapse to determine its cause and ensure the safety of other workers at the site. Police further noted that all the labourers involved were daily wage workers from Jharkhand.

In a separate incident on the same day, a 22-year-old student, Tanushree, lost her life after being run over by a tipper truck while trying to avoid a pothole near Budigere Cross on Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) Road. The accident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Avalahalli Traffic Police Station. The truck driver reportedly fled the scene but has been identified and will be arrested shortly, police confirmed.

These incidents have sparked renewed criticism of Bengaluru’s infrastructure and road conditions. While state ministers have described the pothole issue as “blown out of proportion” and blamed the previous BJP government, Opposition parties have accused the ruling Congress government of administrative lapses that continue to jeopardize public safety.
