In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Bengaluru Police have arrested eight individuals , including a foreign national and four interstate offenders, for allegedly selling prohibited narcotic substances across multiple parts of the city.

According to police officials, the arrests were made following a series of coordinated raids based on credible intelligence gathered over several days. The illegal activities were reported within the jurisdiction of Hebbagodi, Yelahanka New Town, Mico Layout, Parappana Agrahara, Bagalur, and Banaswadi police stations.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and raids were conducted at identified locations. “During these operations, a total of eight accused were apprehended on different dates, including one foreign national and four interstate offenders,” he said.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to procuring drugs such as MDMA, cocaine, and ganja at lower prices from unidentified foreign and local suppliers and distributing them within the city, including to college students, in a bid to make quick profits. Police seized narcotics and related assets with a combined estimated market value of ₹27.42 crore . The haul includes 12.91 kg of MDMA, 275 grams of cocaine, and 34.8 kg of ganja , along with gold ornaments weighing 40 grams , suspected to have been purchased using proceeds from drug sales, and two two-wheelers used in the operation.

Of the total, drugs and associated items worth ₹13.71 crore have been directly recovered. In the Hebbagodi area alone, seizures were valued at approximately ₹27 crore , highlighting the scale of operations in the Electronic City division.

Officials said some of the accused had rented houses to store and distribute the narcotics. The investigation has also revealed possible involvement of additional foreign nationals. Authorities, with assistance from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), have identified at least one suspect who has already left the country.

“All eight accused have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. Efforts are underway to trace the suppliers and other individuals involved,” Singh added. The investigation is ongoing.
