Bendlapadu: A new eco-tourism destination in Bhadradri Kothagudem
Nestled amid lush forests, rolling hills, and serene streams, Bendlapadu village in the Chandrugonda mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district is emerging as a promising eco-tourism destination for nature lovers seeking peace away from the city’s hustle.
The village recently hosted a “Forest Walk” as part of the ‘Eru River Festival,’ which was highly appreciated by district officials. District Collector Jitesh V. Patil highlighted that Bendlapadu is more than just a village; it offers visitors a rare opportunity to reconnect with nature in a tranquil setting.
Located just 25 kilometers from the district headquarters, Bendlapadu is blessed with dense forests, gentle hills, clear streams, and a peaceful environment. It is ideal for family outings and youth seeking immersive nature experiences. Participants in the forest walk had the chance to explore bamboo groves, medicinal plants, and unique tree species up close, while learning about the importance of forest conservation.
Bendlapadu also offers a cultural and spiritual dimension. The forest walk concluded with a visit to the Hastala Veeranna Swamy Temple, allowing visitors to enjoy a sense of spiritual calm alongside the natural beauty. Officials believe this combination of scenic landscapes, local traditions, and spiritual experiences makes Bendlapadu a unique attraction.
Developing Bendlapadu as an eco-tourism hub is expected to create employment opportunities for local residents. Activities such as guided tours, homestays, handicraft sales, and traditional food stalls can provide additional income while ensuring that tourism does not harm the environment. Collector Patil emphasized that preserving natural resources while promoting sustainable tourism is the key goal.
Overall, Bendlapadu is set to become Bhadradri Kothagudem’s green landmark. With its peaceful ambiance, natural beauty, and cultural richness, this hidden gem is poised to grow into a prominent eco-tourism destination in the state.
