Political equations in Bellampalli municipality of Mancherial district have taken a dramatic turn. In the wake of the municipal election results, several councillors have begun shifting their allegiance towards the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) .

With the municipality witnessing a hung verdict , three councillors joined the BRS on Saturday in Hyderabad in the presence of BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) . He welcomed them by draping the party scarf around their shoulders and called upon them to work collectively towards strengthening the party.

Among those who joined the party are Shankar Singh , an Independent councillor from Ward 30, and Kumaraswamy , the Congress councillor elected from Ward 26. Their induction has significantly bolstered the BRS’s strength in the Bellampalli municipality. Meanwhile, Ramurthi , the BJP candidate from Ward 34, also met KTR. Though he did not formally join the party, he expressed full support to the BRS, stating that he was attracted by its policies and development-oriented approach.

The 34-member municipality had returned a split mandate, with Congress winning 14 seats, BRS securing 14, BJP one, and Independents five. With the latest developments, the BRS’s tally has risen to 17 .

The party is now focusing on securing the Chairman’s post , with elections for the Chairman and Vice-Chairman scheduled for tomorrow .
