Belagavi to Get Grand Tirupati-Style Shrine, ₹100-Crore Project Gets Land Approval
A major religious infrastructure project is set to take shape in Belagavi , where a Tirupati-style temple is being planned with an estimated investment of ₹100 crore.
The proposed shrine, named ‘Tirupati Venkateshwara Temple’ , will be constructed atop a hill in Kolikoppa village on the outskirts of the city. The project draws direct inspiration from the renowned Tirumala Tirupati Temple , aiming to replicate its architectural style and devotional experience.
For the development, around seven acres of land have been officially handed over to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) , the governing body that administers the Tirupati temple. The land transfer was facilitated by the Belagavi Reddy Sangha, with key representatives including Karnataka State Reddy Janasangha president Lakshmana Reddy and Belagavi Reddy Sangha president Ramanna Mullura formally handing over documents to TTD board member S. Naresh Kumar.
According to officials, the temple complex will not be limited to the main shrine. It will also include accommodation facilities for pilgrims and continuous anna prasada (free meal) services, mirroring the system followed at Tirupati to cater to large numbers of devotees.
The financial structure of the project has been clearly outlined. TTD will bear the majority share, contributing 80 per cent of the total cost. The remaining 20 per cent will be mobilised through contributions 10 per cent from the Belagavi Reddy Sangha and another 10 per cent through public donations.
TTD officials highlighted that the organisation has been actively investing in the construction, renovation, and revival of temples across the country, and this project is part of that broader initiative.
The temple is expected to be completed within two years , and once finished, it is likely to emerge as a significant pilgrimage centre in Karnataka, offering devotees in the region a Tirupati-like spiritual experience without the need to travel to Andhra Pradesh.
