BC leaders unite to demand 42% reservation in T’gana

A press meet at Basheerbagh Press Club on the issue of Backward Classes (BC) reservations drew significant political attention. Former Minister V. Srinivas Goud, MP R. Krishnaiah, and former Assembly Speaker and Council Opposition Leader Madhu Sudana Chari were the chief guests at the event.

Speaking at the meeting, former Minister Srinivas Goud emphasized that implementing 42% reservations for BCs is a crucial issue in Telangana’s political landscape. He urged the Congress government to immediately fulfill its promise to the BC community and warned that no local elections should be conducted until the constitutional mandate for 42% reservation is in place and hinted at a large-scale social movement, similar to the Telangana statehood movement, if the demand is ignored.

MP R. Krishnaiah highlighted that while BCs play a key role in Telangana’s economic and social systems, they continue to lag behind in political representation. He stressed that only the implementation of 42% reservations can bring true justice to the community and cautioned that BC voters would no longer remain silent if the government fails to keep its word.

Former Speaker Madhu Sudana Chari recalled the pivotal role of BCs in the formation of Telangana and stated that the community has always fought for social justice. He added that it is now time for them to receive political justice, and the struggle will continue until 42% reservation is achieved.

Other leaders, including Gujja Satyam, Gujja Krishna, and Palle Ravi, along with representatives from various BC organizations, also participated and shared their views. The BC leaders announced that they have decided to act in unity. Plans were made to hold statewide meetings and rallies to raise awareness and intensify the movement for achieving full BC reservation.
