Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform the Adilabad region into a major education hub, industrial centre, and tourism destination by 2034 , marking a significant push toward balanced regional development.

The announcement coincided with the launch of redevelopment works at the historic Basara Sri Gnana Saraswati Temple , a prominent spiritual site known for the Aksharabhyasam ritual . The state government has allocated ₹225 crore to upgrade the temple with modern facilities while preserving its traditional essence. The project aims to enhance pilgrim experience, boost spiritual tourism, and prepare for large gatherings during events like the Godavari Pushkaralu.

Addressing a public meeting in Pipri village, the Chief Minister emphasized that development would be carried out without political bias, ensuring equal focus on all constituencies. He highlighted a governance model that combines welfare initiatives with long-term infrastructure growth , aiming to improve living standards while strengthening the region’s economic base.

Key welfare schemes include Indiramma housing, free electricity up to 200 units, farm loan waivers, subsidised LPG cylinders, and free bus travel for women. These measures are designed to reduce financial stress on households and support inclusive growth across communities.

At the same time, the government is focusing on addressing long-standing challenges in Adilabad. Despite its rich natural resources and cultural heritage, the district has lagged due to inadequate planning. To bridge this gap, efforts are being made to improve agriculture, healthcare, education, and drinking water infrastructure .

A major highlight of the development strategy is the revival of the Pranahita-Chevella irrigation project , which is expected to strengthen irrigation and water supply. Plans for an airport and improved connectivity are also underway to attract investments and create employment opportunities.

The education sector is receiving significant attention, with proposals for a new university, residential schools, and advanced training centres. Infrastructure projects, including lift irrigation schemes, power substations, and urban development works, are expected to further accelerate growth.

With a strong focus on inclusive governance and sustainable development , the government aims to reshape Adilabad into a dynamic and self-sustaining growth hub in the coming decade.
