Bandi Sanjay Says Dharmendra Pradhan's Resignation Reflects BJP's 'Nation First' Principle

The resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the wake of the NEET question paper leak controversy has triggered strong political reactions, with the BJP, Congress, and BRS interpreting the development through sharply different political narratives.

Reacting to the resignation, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said Pradhan's decision exemplifies the Bharatiya Janata Party's guiding principle of "Nation First, Party Next, Individual Last." In a post on X on Saturday, Sanjay described the resignation as an act of political accountability and responsibility. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP believes in respecting the voice of the people and taking responsibility whenever circumstances demand it. He also lauded Pradhan's long public service, recalling his journey from student activism to serving as a Union Minister, and said his contributions to the nation would be remembered.

The Congress, however, claimed the resignation was the result of sustained pressure from students and opposition parties. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud and Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the Union government had no option but to act due to the united protests by students and the continuous campaign led by Rahul Gandhi. They described the resignation as a significant victory for students who fought for justice and argued that it exposed the Centre's handling of the controversy.

Ponnam Prabhakar maintained that Pradhan's resignation alone would not bring closure to the issue. He demanded compensation for the families of those who allegedly lost their lives in connection with the NEET controversy, withdrawal of criminal cases registered against protesting students, and stringent measures to ensure that examination paper leaks do not recur. He warned that the country's youth would not remain silent if their future continued to be jeopardized and asserted that the struggle against what he termed the BJP government's authoritarian approach would continue.

Meanwhile, senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao described Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation as a "great victory for the youth of the country." In his post on X, Harish Rao said the development reflected a changing political and social atmosphere in India and congratulated students and young people whose protests, he said, had made the outcome possible.

With leaders across party lines presenting contrasting interpretations, Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation has emerged as a major political flashpoint, with the BJP portraying it as a demonstration of accountability, while the Congress and BRS have projected it as a victory for student protests and opposition pressure.
