Nearly a decade after the release of Baahubali: The Beginning , the makers of India’s biggest cinematic saga have unveiled a new chapter this time in animated form. Titled “Baahubali: The Eternal War – Part 1”, the CG-animated epic marks a bold new expansion of the Baahubali universe, presented by filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli and directed by Ishan Shukla.

The teaser, released on the franchise’s official social media handles on Tuesday, promises to bring back the grandeur of Mahishmati while introducing a fresh visual experience. “Amarendra Baahubali’s death wasn’t his end… it was the beginning of something eternal,” reads the film’s tagline, setting the tone for a mythical continuation of the story that redefined Indian cinema.

Produced by Arka Media Works, Baahubali: The Eternal War is being developed on an estimated budget of ₹120 crore, making it one of India’s most ambitious animated ventures. Unlike the earlier live-action duology starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Anushka Shetty, the new animated feature expands the story world with new characters, divine entities, and cosmic conflicts, exploring the spiritual and fantastical depths of the Baahubali legend.

Director Ishan Shukla, known for his work in visual storytelling and animation, brings a new dimension to Rajamouli’s universe, combining cinematic scale with digital artistry. Industry sources suggest that the film will feature a mix of familiar faces from Mahishmati and newly imagined warriors and kingdoms, setting the stage for an epic “eternal war” that goes beyond the mortal realm.

The announcement comes close on the heels of the 10-year rerelease of Baahubali: The Epic , a remastered theatrical version combining The Beginning and The Conclusion into a single 3-hour-44-minute experience. The rerelease, which drew enthusiastic crowds across India, reignited nostalgia for the franchise and served as the perfect lead-up to this new animated installment.

With Baahubali: The Eternal War – Part 1 , Rajamouli’s franchise takes a daring leap into a new medium while staying true to its roots of heroism, legacy, and timeless storytelling. The film is slated for release in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil, with further details about voice cast and release date expected soon.
