Axar Patel Breaks Into ICC ODI All-Rounder Top 10 After England Heroics

India all-rounder Axar Patel has broken into the top 10 of the ICC Men's ODI All-Rounder Rankings , climbing three places to ninth after his match-winning performance in the opening ODI against England at Birmingham.

Axar played a pivotal role in India's six-wicket victory on Tuesday, claiming four wickets and scoring a brisk 57 off 52 balls . His all-round display also boosted his individual rankings, lifting him 18 places to 73rd in the ODI batting rankings and two spots to 42nd among bowlers .

India's ODI squad received a major boost with the return of senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah after the team suffered a 0-4 defeat in the T20I series against England.

Gill made an immediate impact on his comeback, striking 80 off 75 balls before retiring hurt. His innings, which included 11 fours and a six , helped India successfully chase a target of 259. The knock earned him 12 rating points, leaving him just 11 points behind New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell , who continues to occupy the No. 1 position in the ODI batting rankings.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah also marked a successful return to the format. His performance in the series opener helped him move up to 24th place in the ODI bowling rankings .

Another Indian player to make significant gains was Washington Sundar , whose unbeaten 52-run knock earned him a jump of 24 places to 177th in the batting rankings . He also climbed 16 positions to 55th among ODI all-rounders .

For England, experienced batter Joe Root continued his impressive form with a 76-ball 76, helping him rise to a joint 12th position in the ODI batting rankings . All-rounder Liam Dawson also made notable progress after scoring 68 runs, surging 81 places to 262nd in the batting rankings .
