Emraan Hashmi, who recently drew praise for his powerful antagonist role in the Telugu blockbuster They Call Him OG , is all set to revive one of his most iconic characters on the big screen. Vishesh Films has officially announced Awarapan 2 , the much-awaited sequel to the 2007 cult classic, and the project has already begun shooting in Bangkok.
The Return of Shivam
Awarapan directed by Mohit Suri, remains one of Emraan Hashmi’s most celebrated films. His portrayal of Shivam, a man torn between his haunted past and complex present, struck a chord with audiences and solidified his reputation as Bollywood’s consummate intense performer. Over the years, the film has earned a cult following, remembered for its gripping storyline and timeless music.
Awarapan 2 Begins
Nearly two decades later, the sequel is finally set to hit the big screen. Produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films, Awarapan 2 is helmed by filmmaker Nitin Kakkar with a screenplay penned by bestselling author Bilal Siddiqui. The film will pick up the next chapter of Shivam’s journey, promising a blend of raw emotions, high-octane action, and the signature intensity that defined the original.
Release Date Locked
With the shoot underway in Bangkok and expectations running high, Awarapan 2 is slated to release theatrically on 3rd April 2026. Given the legacy of the original and Hashmi’s enduring connection with audiences, the sequel is already among the most anticipated films of the year.
