Atchannaidu Urges TDP Cadres to Prioritise State Interests and NDA Unity
Andhra Pradesh Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu has called on Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders and workers to make necessary sacrifices for the state's interests and the unity of the NDA alliance, stressing that public welfare must take precedence over personal ambitions and positions.
Addressing an extended TDP meeting in Salur alongside fellow minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani, Atchannaidu urged party cadres to maintain discipline, strengthen coordination and work towards the development of Andhra Pradesh. He said discipline remained one of the party's greatest strengths and recalled that N.T. Rama Rao founded the TDP to empower weaker sections and uphold the self-respect of Telugu people.
The minister asked party leaders and workers to respect the decisions of TDP president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Differences of opinion, he said, should be raised through appropriate party forums rather than expressed through public criticism.
On the allocation of seats in municipal elections, Atchannaidu said discussions among NDA alliance partners were continuing. He assured party workers that the leadership would recognise the contributions of those who had stood by the party and worked through difficulties and legal cases over the previous five years.
Criticising the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, he alleged that local bodies had been weakened and funds diverted, affecting the development of basic infrastructure. He called for democratic elections to local institutions and urged party cadres to take the coalition government's development and welfare programmes to the people to earn their confidence.
Highlighting the TDP's role in the political empowerment of Backward Classes (BCs), Atchannaidu said N.T. Rama Rao introduced 20 per cent reservations for BCs in local bodies, while Chandrababu Naidu increased the quota to 34 per cent, as stated by the minister.
He said providing fair political representation to BCs and other disadvantaged communities remained a key objective of the NDA alliance. Atchannaidu urged leaders and workers to cooperate with alliance partners, maintain unity and contribute to the state's progress, placing collective responsibility above individual political interests.
