At the Turning Point of Time…

At the Turning Point of Time…

January 1, 2026

Time is like a river. It does not stop, and it does not flow backward. Yet, we stand on those riverbanks, watching the current, reminiscing about moments passed, and planting seeds of hope for the days to come. Today is such a junction. As one year silently merges into our past, another arrives before us with fresh dreams. As 2025 slowly bids us farewell, 2026 lights the lamp of hope at our doorstep.

2025 was not just a number on a calendar; it was a book of experiences. For some, it was a story of success, for others, a remembrance of struggles, and for many, a teacher that imparted patience. Laughter and tears, victories and defeats all combined to breathe life into the year 2025.

2025: A Year of Transformation

2025 taught the world a stern lesson: change is inevitable, and adaptability is man’s greatest strength. Globally, pivotal developments occurred in political, economic, and technological sectors. While clouds of war still loomed over some regions, efforts for peace were equally persistent. Many incidents reminded us that humanity is still very much alive.

The field of technology took another leap forward in 2025. Artificial Intelligence (AI) became an integral part of our daily lives. In education, medicine, agriculture, and industry, technology became a vital assistant to mankind. What once seemed like a daunting change has now become a necessity. However, at the same time, 2025 forced us to confront the question, "What is the true value of a human being?"

India: A Journey of Hopes and Responsibilities

For India, 2025 was a period of testing. The need to balance economic growth with social stability became clearer than ever. Debates on youth employment, farmer livelihoods, women’s safety, and reforms in the education system remained central to our democracy.

Simultaneously, India captured global attention through its space achievements, the expansion of Digital India, and a thriving startup culture. From villages to cities, the mobile phone has transformed into a miniature government office, placing the power of information even in the hands of the poor. But 2025 also reminded us that development is not just about statistics. True development is the smile on a person's face, a child not going to bed hungry, and a woman living without fear.

World Wars: A Lesson Written in Blood

The First and Second World Wars, which shook the 20th century, remain indelible scars on human history. A thirst for power, colonial greed, and national ego combined to sacrifice millions of lives. Cities were leveled by the roar of bombs, mothers' tears became oceans, and children’s dreams were buried in battlefields. Those wars taught us a hard truth: peace is greater than power, and humanity is more valuable than victory. No one truly wins a war; it is humanity that loses. That is why every New Year comes as a silent plea, to never forget the bloodshed of the past and to build the future on the foundations of peace.

A Silent Warning from Nature

In 2025, the voice of nature grew louder. Droughts in some places, floods in others, the impact of climate change became visible before our eyes. It felt like a warning from nature for the mistakes of man. Yet, the fact that youth are stepping forward for greenery and environmental conservation is a positive sign. Small efforts, planting trees, reducing plastic use, and conserving water, are the rays of hope for the years to come.

Personal Lives in 2025

Regardless of global events, 2025 was a personal story for every individual. Someone lost a loved one this year; someone else began a new relationship. One achieved a dream job, while another faced defeat. Some dreams came true, while others were deferred. But 2025 taught us that failure is not the end; it is merely a sign to change our path. Falling is not the issue; rising again is what matters.

New Year Celebrations Around the World

Countries across the globe celebrate the New Year grandly, in accordance with their respective cultures and traditions. In the United States and Europe, celebrations begin as the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, featuring fireworks, countdowns, and music parties. The Times Square Ball Drop in New York is world-famous. In Australia, spectacular firework displays take place at the Sydney Harbour . In Japan, temple bells are rung 108 times to symbolize leaving behind the flaws of the past year and welcoming the new one. In countries like China, the New Year begins joyfully with family gatherings, special feasts, and heartfelt greetings.

In India , New Year is celebrated according to both religious and regional traditions. On the night of December 31st, cities welcome the "English New Year" with parties, cultural programs, and fireworks. Simultaneously, traditional New Year festivals like Ugadi, Vaisakhi, Gudi Padwa, and Pongal hold great significance in various parts of the country. These occasions are marked by visiting temples, cleaning homes, wearing new clothes, and sharing meals with family members. Reflecting on the experiences of the past year, Indians celebrate the New Year wholeheartedly, hoping for peace, health, and prosperity.

There was a time when January 1st meant simple yet touching traditions, exchanging greeting cards, sending wishes through the mail, and seeking blessings from elders. Words handwritten on colorful cards carried a special sense of intimacy. However, as times have changed, the way we share New Year wishes has also evolved. Today, WhatsApp messages, social media posts, video reels, and digital cards have become prominent. Similarly, theme parties, midnight celebrations, and get-togethers with friends have emerged as new trends. Despite this transition from tradition to modernity, it is remarkable that while the form of celebration has changed, the hope and joy associated with the New Year remain the same.

A Grateful Farewell to 2025

As we say goodbye to this year, let us do so with gratitude, not anger. Because it taught us something. It taught us patience. It taught us endurance. It reminded us of the value of people.

2025…You were harsh at times. You hurt us silently at times. But at the same time, You gave us strength, And the power to stand tall.

Welcome 2026: An Invitation to a New Dawn

Now, 2026 is knocking at the door. It is like a blank page, and we must write the story upon it. What do we want to be this year? Better human beings? Responsible citizens? A generation that lives in harmony with nature?

2026 brings us not just opportunities, but responsibilities. The responsibility to choose love over hate. The responsibility to plant hope instead of despair. The responsibility to think of collective good over selfishness.

Moving Forward with Hope

Time does not stop. But the kind of era we build is in our hands. Even as 2025 recedes, the lessons it left behind remain with us. As 2026 approaches, the results it brings will depend on our decisions. A New Year is not just a change of calendar; it is a change in our thoughts, our behavior, and the reconstruction of our values.

On this occasion, let us all take a pledge: Let us become better humans, build a better society, and lay the foundation today for a better tomorrow.

Farewell to 2025 with gratitude…

A heartfelt welcome to 2026!
