At least 57 terrorists, 10 security men killed as attacks rock Pakistan’s Balochistan

A wave of coordinated militant attacks across multiple districts of Pakistan’s Balochistan province triggered large-scale security operations from late Friday night, leaving at least 57 terrorists and 10 security personnel dead , officials said on Saturday.

The security operations were launched after militants simultaneously targeted police, Frontier Corps (FC) posts, security installations and civilians at 12 locations , including Quetta, Gwadar, Makran, Hub, Chaman and Naseerabad , in what officials described as a major escalation in insurgent violence.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said the attacks occurred between Friday night and Saturday afternoon and were repulsed following intense exchanges of gunfire. “The attacks targeted police, Frontier Corps personnel and civilians at different locations,” Rind said.

He said terrorists killed a family of five, including a woman and three children , near Gwadar , underscoring the civilian impact of the violence. Identification of the slain militants is under way, and authorities will later confirm whether they belonged only to local insurgent groups or also included members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) , he added.

The latest operations follow counter-terror actions earlier this week in which security forces killed 41 terrorists in two intelligence-based operations in Panjgur and Harnai districts of Balochistan on Thursday and Friday. Officials believe the coordinated attacks were carried out in response to these earlier operations.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said security forces successfully foiled all the militant assaults, though 10 policemen and paramilitary Frontier Corps personnel were killed. He also said militants had planted a large number of explosives on a railway track in Naseerabad district , which were later defused by a bomb disposal squad, averting major damage.

Security forces are continuing search and clean-up operations in affected areas, where militants fled following gun battles on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

Earlier, authorities said security forces killed 52 terrorists in separate operations across three provinces . Six militants were killed in Punjab early Friday, while five TTP members , including a commander, were eliminated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa .

Balochistan has witnessed a sharp rise in militant violence in recent years. Data from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) showed that fatalities in the province rose from 787 to 956 , an increase of nearly 22 per cent , compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the Pak Institute for Peace Studies reported a 34 per cent increase in terror attacks nationwide in 2025, with 699 incidents recorded across Pakistan.
