Asuraguru awakens: Prasanth Varma unveils teaser for female-led superhero film 'Mahakali'

Director Prasanth Varma and RKD Studios have unveiled an intriguing teaser for the character Asuraguru from the much-anticipated female-led superhero film, "Mahakali," releasing today. The teaser image shows dark-skinned hands adorned with golden jewelry emitting a radiant golden light, accompanied by the tagline "ASURAGURU AWAKENS," hinting at deep ties to Hindu mythology.

"Mahakali" is the third installment in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) and marks its first film led by a female superhero. The film reimagines Goddess Kali as a divine warrior, breaking stereotypes by featuring a dark-skinned protagonist, challenging prevailing beauty standards in Indian cinema. Set in West Bengal, the story explores themes of empowerment, faith, resilience, and identity, reflecting the fierce and compassionate nature of the goddess.

Directed by Puja Aparnaa Kolluru, with the script written by Prasanth Varma, the film is produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under RKD Studios. "Mahakali" promises a bold, socially relevant narrative blending mythology and modern storytelling, with music by Smaran Sai and production design by Sri Nagendra Tangala. It is planned for a pan-India release in late 2026.
