
Assembly Questions Must Be Answered On Time, Says Speaker
As the Andhra Pradesh Assembly budget session begins, Speaker Chintakayala Ayya Narpath stressed the importance of prompt responses from departmental officials to questions raised by members.
On Tuesday, ahead of the session, the Speaker held a review with secretaries of various departments at the Assembly Committee Hall. Expressing dissatisfaction over months-long delays, he directed officials to ensure all future answers are submitted on time to the Assembly.
Digital Assembly Initiative
The Speaker announced plans to fully digitalize the Assembly under the National e-Vidhan framework by the next monsoon session. Implementation will begin immediately after the budget meetings, aiming for a paperless system in subsequent sessions. The session will commence at 10 a.m., with the Governor , Justice S. Abdul Nazeer, addressing both Houses. The session is likely to continue until March 12.
Monitoring Pending Questions
Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said each department has appointed a nodal officer to track questions. Currently, 283 Assembly-related and 562 Mandal-related questions remain pending . A special portal in the General Administration Department has been set up to monitor progress.
Assembly Secretary General S. Prasanna Kumar noted that while responses are mandated within seven days, many are delayed, urging secretaries to take proactive measures. The meeting included senior officials, including Special Chief Secretaries Krishnababu, S.S. Rawat, R.P. Sisodia, and B. Rajashekhar.
Security Arrangements
Security for the budget session was reviewed with senior police officials. DGP Harish Kumar Gupta directed strict security , ensuring smooth proceedings. Traffic from MLAs’ residential areas to the Assembly will be unobstructed, with advanced surveillance around the Secretariat. Officials were instructed to remain alert to prevent any lapses, drawing lessons from past experiences.
