Indian wrestlers produced a standout performance at the Asian Beach Games 2026 in Sanya, China, winning four medals in beach wrestling and helping India complete the event with a total of six medals on Wednesday.

Leading the charge were Priya Malik (women’s 70+kg) and Pushpa Yadav (women’s 60kg) , who secured gold medals with commanding displays in their respective finals.

Pushpa Yadav delivered a dominant performance in the 60kg final, defeating China’s Asian champion Xie Mengyu 3-0 to clinch gold in style. Vietnam’s Thi My Hanh Nguyen completed the podium with bronze.

In another closely fought final, Priya Malik edged Mongolia’s Bolortungalag Zorigt 3-2 in the women’s 70+kg category to secure India’s second wrestling gold. China’s Li Wenji took bronze in the event.

India also secured a bronze medal through Jaspreet Kaur in the women’s 70kg category. After losing in the semi-final to Vietnam’s Thi Linh Dang, she bounced back to defeat Kazakhstan’s Beibit Seidualy 2-0 in the bronze medal bout. China’s Jia Long won gold while Thi Linh Dang claimed silver.

In the men’s 70kg category, Siddharth claimed silver , becoming India’s lone men’s wrestling medallist. He defeated Pakistan’s Muhammad Abdullah 1-0 in the semi-final but lost 0-3 to Iran’s Aliakbar Zaroudi in the final. Kyrgyzstan’s Adis Rakhat Uulu took bronze.

India’s overall success was further strengthened by kabaddi results , with the women’s team winning gold and the men’s team securing silver earlier in the week.

With this, India finished the Games with a total of three gold, two silver, and one bronze medal . Indian athletes also competed in 3x3 basketball and sailing , though without reaching the podium.

Organised by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) , the Asian Beach Games feature coastal and beach-based sports and were first held in Bali in 2008, showcasing disciplines outside the traditional Asian Games programme.
