The Australian Open women’s singles final is officially set, with World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka facing Elena Rybakina in a highly anticipated showdown on Saturday, January 31.

In Thursday’s semifinals, Sabalenka continued her dominant run, defeating Elina Svitolina 6-2, 6-3 in just 77 minutes. The win marks her fourth consecutive Australian Open final and extends her remarkable streak of not dropping a set in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Rybakina , the 2022 Wimbledon champion, overcame a resilient Jessica Pegula 6-3, 7-6(7) to reach her first Grand Slam final since 2023 . The second set saw tense moments as Rybakina held her nerve in a crucial tiebreak to secure the victory.

On the men’s side, semifinals are scheduled for Friday, January 30. Carlos Alcaraz will take on Alexander Zverev in a potential blockbuster clash, while defending champion Jannik Sinner faces former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic .

In doubles action, Jason Kubler and Marc Polmans have advanced to the men’s doubles final, while defending mixed doubles champions Olivia Gadecki and John Peers are through to the semifinals, aiming for a repeat triumph.

The tournament has been marked by extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 36°C earlier in the week, prompting temporary suspensions of play to ensure player safety.

The women’s final promises an exciting contest as Sabalenka seeks her first Australian Open title, while Rybakina looks to capture her second Grand Slam crown.
