Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka was forced off just 10 minutes into the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich after suffering a painful left-leg injury, raising fresh concerns about the England forward’s fitness.

Saka went down in pain at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday, appearing to clutch his thigh after playing the ball early in the match. Arsenal’s medical staff assessed the 25-year-old before he was replaced by Eberechi Eze in the 10th minute.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted the early signs were worrying, although the extent of the injury remained unclear.

“They are a bit concerned,” Arteta told TNT Sports. “A player that has to come off with that really sharp pain is never good news, but we will have to wait and see.”

The latest setback has raised concerns given Saka’s injury history. The forward has dealt with several fitness problems in recent years, including hamstring and Achilles issues last season. Further assessment will be needed to determine the severity of the latest injury and how long he might be sidelined.

Despite losing one of their key attacking players early, Arsenal battled back to secure a 2-2 draw against the German champions in an entertaining contest between two European heavyweights.

Eze made an immediate impact after coming on, opening the scoring for Arsenal in the 25th minute. Bayern responded through Alphonso Davies, who equalised 10 minutes later to restore parity before half-time.

Bayern moved ahead in the second half when Harry Kane converted a penalty, taking his goal tally for club and country to 12 this season. Arsenal, however, refused to surrender and found an equaliser through Declan Rice to ensure the points were shared.

While the result kept the contest finely balanced, Arsenal will be anxiously awaiting an update on Saka. His availability could prove crucial as the season progresses, with the club hoping the injury is not serious enough to keep one of its most influential attackers out for an extended period.
