Army Opens Fire After Suspicious Movement Along LoC in J&K's Rajouri, Search Operation Underway

Army troops opened fire after detecting suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district , triggering an exchange of small arms fire across the border late Friday night, officials said.

The incident occurred in the Tarkundi forward area at around 10 pm , when soldiers guarding the border observed the movement of suspected terrorists near the LoC. In response, troops opened fire to prevent any possible infiltration attempt.

Officials said the firing lasted for nearly 90 minutes , during which retaliatory small arms fire was reported from across the border. No casualties or injuries have been reported on either side so far.

Following the exchange, the Indian Army launched a search operation on Saturday morning to determine whether any infiltrators had managed to enter Indian territory. Security personnel are conducting extensive searches in the area while maintaining heightened surveillance along the forward positions.

The LoC has witnessed intermittent infiltration attempts and ceasefire violations in the past, with security forces remaining on high alert, particularly in vulnerable sectors of the Rajouri-Poonch region . Officials said surveillance has been intensified to ensure that any potential threat is neutralised swiftly.
