Army Jawan dies after accidental fall during Night patrol in Baramulla

An Indian Army jawan lost his life after accidentally slipping from a height while on night patrol duty in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Friday.

The deceased soldier has been identified as Subedar Hira Lal , a resident of the Akbarpur area in Haryana. The incident occurred during routine night patrolling at the Fatahgarh Sheeri area of north Kashmir.

According to officials, Subedar Hira Lal lost his footing in the dark and fell from an elevated position. Fellow soldiers immediately rushed him to the Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla , where he was brought in an unconscious condition. Doctors, however, declared him dead on arrival .

Initial reports indicate that the death was accidental , with no signs of militant activity or enemy engagement in the area at the time of the incident. An incident report has been initiated by the Army to document the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.

Subedar Hira Lal is remembered as a disciplined and dedicated soldier who was performing his duties in challenging terrain and weather conditions when the tragedy struck. His sacrifice underscores the constant risks faced by security personnel even during routine operations in difficult terrain.

The Army has informed the bereaved family, and last rites are expected to be conducted with full military honours in his native place in Haryana.
