The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has added another rare distinction to its name. In recognition of its effective use of digital technology to provide improved services to the public, APSRTC has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Governance Now – 6th Digital Transformation Summit’ award. State Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed happiness over the achievement.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that APSRTC officials, supervisors and staff have been rendering dedicated services to the public round the clock, and that this national-level recognition is a result of their collective efforts. He lauded the commitment and hard work of the RTC workforce.

The minister highlighted that the Automatic Announcement System implemented at major bus stations has proved highly beneficial to passengers. By providing advance and real-time information on bus arrivals and departures, the quality of services has significantly improved. In line with the far-sighted vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu , APSRTC is moving forward by embracing modern technology, he added.

The minister also specially congratulated APSRTC Managing Director Dwaraka Tirumala Rao for playing a key role in securing the award.

Future Plans

The minister asserted that APSRTC would be developed into a national model in the public transport sector. He assured that more modern and passenger-friendly services would be introduced in the coming days. Special emphasis would be laid on empowering women by providing free bus travel, and on operating buses at regular fares during festival seasons to avoid imposing an additional burden on the public.

The award is presented by Governance Now , a reputed media organisation that recognises revolutionary changes brought about in governance through the use of digital technology by government departments and public sector undertakings.

The award ceremony was held on Friday, January 16, 2026, in New Delhi, as part of the 6th Digital Transformation Summit & Awards . On behalf of APSRTC, the award was received by the corporation’s Chief Engineer Y. Srinivasa Rao from Governance Now Managing Director Kailashnath Adhikari .
