APSRTC Breaks All Records Amid Sankranti Travel Rush

In an unprecedented achievement, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) set a new all-time revenue record on January 19, generating nearly ₹28 crore in a single day. On the same day, over 56 lakh passengers traveled across the state on APSRTC buses.

The record was driven by heavy return traffic following the Sankranti festival , as passengers traveled back from their hometowns to workplaces, educational institutions, and business centers. While private transport operators hiked fares during the festival, APSRTC continued its special bus services at regular rates , earning strong passenger support.

Officials confirmed that APSRTC recorded a revenue of ₹27.68 crore , the highest ever in a single day. They attributed the achievement to affordable fares, extensive bus services, and timely bus operations , which encouraged passengers to choose government buses over other options.

The APSRTC management credited the record to the coordinated efforts of staff at all levels from drivers and conductors to depot managers, traffic personnel, and senior officials. Proactive measures, such as deploying additional buses , improving bus stand facilities , and closely monitoring passenger demand to assign extra services when needed, played a crucial role in achieving this milestone.

APSRTC has consistently set high revenue benchmarks during previous Sankranti seasons. In January 2025 , the corporation recorded around ₹23.71 crore , surpassing all prior records. Before that, during Sankranti on January 18, 2023 , revenue reached nearly ₹23 crore . Even in the 2022 summer vacation season , APSRTC posted a record single-day revenue of ₹18.33 crore .

Over the years, revenue growth has been remarkable: ₹18.33 crore in 2022, ₹23 crore in 2023, ₹23.71 crore in 2025, and reaching ₹27.68 -- 28 crore in 2026 , setting a historic all-time record. Officials noted that rising passenger numbers during festive seasons have consistently boosted APSRTC revenue.
