Apple Watch Series 11 Offers 5G, Wrist Gestures, and Improved Sleep Insights

The Apple Watch Series 11 was launched in September 2025, with prices in India starting at ₹46,900 for the 42mm Aluminium GPS variant. Both 42mm and 46mm sizes are available, along with GPS + Cellular options. The watch is offered in Aluminium (Jet Black, Space Grey, Silver, Rose Gold) and Titanium (Natural, Gold, Slate) finishes.

The Series 11 is designed as a refinement of its predecessor, the Series 10. While the overall appearance and dimensions remain familiar, the smartwatch is slightly heavier due to a larger battery. Comfort has been maintained, including during sleep, and the Sport band continues to provide a soft, breathable fit suitable for extended wear. Durability has been reinforced with IP6X dust protection and water resistance up to 50 metres.

The LTPO3 OLED Always-On Retina display has been retained, with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits for improved outdoor legibility. The screen is protected by Ion-X glass, which offers double the scratch resistance compared to the previous generation. The display supports a 1Hz refresh rate, ensuring that time and notifications are visible even when the wrist is lowered.

Performance is powered by the S10 SiP with a 64-bit dual-core processor, ensuring smooth navigation and fast app launches. Cellular variants now support 5G, enabling faster network speeds and moving closer to a standalone smartwatch experience.

The watch continues to feature a comprehensive health monitoring suite. Heart rate, ECG, SpO2, and step tracking are all included, along with new hypertension notifications that analyse vascular responses over time. Sleep is monitored and summarised through the Sleep Score, a metric introduced in watchOS 26. Fitness features are complemented by Workout Buddy, an AI coach that provides personalised guidance via connected audio devices.

Software updates in watchOS 26 have introduced the Liquid Glass UI, along with new watch faces, including Flow and Exactograph, and Smart Stack hints on the watch face. Wrist gestures can now be used to dismiss calls or notifications, providing touchless control. Other Apple Intelligence features, including Call Screening, Hold Assist, Live Translation, and Live Listen, are supported when the watch is paired with an iPhone.

Battery life has been significantly improved, with up to 24 hours claimed per charge. Real-world use shows approximately 23 hours under typical usage and 19–20 hours during intensive workouts. The watch supports fast charging, reaching around 80 percent in 30 minutes and a full charge in roughly one hour. A 15-minute top-up can provide around eight hours of usage.

While the Series 11 does not drastically redefine the smartwatch experience, it has been refined in key areas, including battery life, connectivity, health tracking, and gesture control. The watch has been positioned as the most polished Apple smartwatch to date. Alternatives include the Apple Watch Series 10, now available at lower prices, and competitor devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic.
