The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has strongly reacted to the brutal murder of its activist, Manda Salman , in Pinnelli village of the Gurazala Assembly constituency in Palnadu district . The party has sought an appointment with the State Director General of Police (DGP) to submit a memorandum regarding the incident. Party leaders expressed grave concern that law and order has deteriorated in the state and that attacks on Dalits are on the rise.

YSRCP leaders wrote a letter to the DGP in this regard. Meanwhile, YSRCP State General Secretary and MLC Lella Appi Reddy made sensational allegations , stating that Salman who had been staying away from his native village due to threats to his life was ambushed and attacked with iron rods when he returned to visit his ailing wife . He said the extremely brutal murder reflects the anarchic conditions prevailing under the coalition government and demanded an immediate, impartial investigation and strict punishment for the culprits, alleging that Dalits lack protection .

On the other hand, YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu through the social media platform ‘X’ . He alleged that the state is not witnessing democratic governance , but a “Red Book Constitution.” He accused the government of political vendetta , claiming that YSRCP workers are being targeted , and said Salman’s murder marks the peak of violent politics .

Jagan said it was unbecoming of a Chief Minister to encourage such lawlessness . Questioning whether visiting one’s ailing wife is a crime , he condemned the act of murder and foisting false cases on the victim. He alleged that TDP leaders , with the backing of certain police officials , are indulging in such acts and warned that the Chief Minister would have to pay a price for this political violence . He assured that the party would provide full support to the victim’s family .

YSRCP Protest at DGP Office

Meanwhile, citing the rise in attacks on Dalits and failure of law enforcement , YSRCP leaders staged a massive protest at the DGP office in Mangalagiri . After police denied entry to leaders who went to submit a complaint over the Palnadu murder , tension prevailed . Former ministers and senior leaders staged a roadside sit-in protest , following which an Additional DGP (ADG) accepted their memorandum .

Former minister Merugu Nagarjuna alleged the murder occurred with government support , claiming police did not act until Jagan Mohan Reddy personally attended the funeral . He said filing cases against the deceased instead of ensuring justice shows police bias .

Aadhaar Cards Even for Last Rites?

Former MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy alleged that the rule of TDP leaders , not the Constitution , is prevailing in the state. He termed it inhuman to demand Aadhaar cards even for conducting last rites , and criticized police for failing to act against the accused and for insulting party representatives at the DGP office.
