Apollomedics Hospitals in Lucknow has achieved a significant milestone by completing over 500 robotic knee replacement surgeries , marking a turning point in the region’s evolving orthopedic care landscape . The achievement not only reflects the hospital’s growing expertise but also signals the rapid adoption of robotic-assisted procedures across India.

To commemorate the milestone, the hospital hosted a patient-centric event titled “Ruk Jana Nahin” , attended by more than 400 former patients. The gathering highlighted recovery stories and the transformative impact of advanced surgical technology , with several patients showcasing their restored mobility through performances and personal testimonies.

With this accomplishment, Apollomedics becomes the first hospital in Lucknow and Eastern Uttar Pradesh to surpass the 500 mark in robotic joint replacements. The facility also strengthened its technological edge by introducing a new MISSO robotic system , taking its total to three surgical robots, including two dedicated for knee replacement. This positions the hospital among the leading centres for AI-driven orthopedic surgery in the state.

According to Dr. Sanjai Srivastava , Chairman of Orthopaedics, robotic systems have significantly improved surgical outcomes through sub-millimetre precision , 3D imaging , and CT-based planning . He noted a sharp rise in patient awareness, with nearly every second patient now opting for robotic procedures , compared to just one in five a few years ago. Importantly, this demand is no longer limited to urban populations but extends to Tier 2, Tier 3, and rural regions .

Medical experts highlight that robotic knee replacement offers key advantages, including reduced blood loss , less post-operative pain , faster recovery, and improved implant alignment, which enhances long-term durability . Many patients are able to regain mobility within days, reflecting the clinical benefits of precision-led interventions.

Dr. Mayank Somani , MD and CEO of Apollomedics, described the milestone as part of a broader mission to deliver world-class healthcare technology to Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized that the expansion of robotic infrastructure reinforces the hospital’s commitment to advanced, patient-focused care .

As robotic surgery gains momentum beyond metro cities, Lucknow is emerging as a regional hub for high-tech healthcare . The milestone underscores a wider shift toward data-driven, AI-integrated treatment , redefining how joint replacement is performed and experienced across India.
