AP Waqf Board Receives 3,503 Files and 4,050 Survey Reports from Telangana

Bringing an end to a long-pending issue that remained unresolved since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board has officially received thousands of vital records from the Telangana State Waqf Board. The development is being viewed as a landmark achievement in the history of the AP Waqf Board and a major step toward strengthening the protection of Waqf properties across the state.

The records, which had remained in Telangana's custody for nearly a decade, include 3,503 files packed in 79 bundles , 4,050 Survey Commissioner reports , two official Gazette volumes , and several other valuable historical and administrative documents relating to Waqf assets in Andhra Pradesh.

Welcoming the transfer, AP State Waqf Board Chairman Sheikh Abdul Aziz described it as more than a routine administrative exercise. He said the documents are critical for establishing ownership rights, safeguarding Waqf properties, removing encroachments, and effectively pursuing legal cases involving Waqf institutions. According to him, the absence of these records after the state's division had severely hampered efforts to protect Waqf assets and resolve disputes related to property ownership and management.

Abdul Aziz also revealed that ₹55 crore in dues payable to Andhra Pradesh by the Telangana Waqf Board is expected to be released soon, providing an additional boost to the board's functioning.

Calling the achievement a result of sustained efforts, the chairman said the AP Waqf Board had been consistently pursuing the matter through multiple meetings and discussions with the Telangana Waqf Board and senior officials. He noted that continuous follow-up and coordination ultimately helped resolve the decade-old issue.

The chairman expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu , ministers Nara Lokesh and N. M. D. Farooq for their support in securing the records. He also thanked the Telangana government and Waqf Board authorities for their cooperation in facilitating the transfer.

Officials believe the recovered records will play a crucial role in protecting Waqf properties, strengthening legal claims, and ensuring better administration of Waqf assets across Andhra Pradesh in the years ahead.
