AP to Set Up 150 AYUSH Centres Across the State

The Andhra Pradesh government has unveiled a major initiative to expand access to traditional healthcare by establishing and upgrading 150 AYUSH centres across the state. Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced that the project, backed by a ₹44 crore budget , is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed within two months .

Taken up under the National AYUSH Mission (2025–26) , the programme aims to ensure that quality healthcare services rooted in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy are accessible to people in both rural and urban areas. Reviewing the progress with senior officials, the minister stated that nearly 50% of the work has been completed and directed authorities to meet the stipulated deadlines.

As part of the plan, 90 existing centres are being modernised with upgraded infrastructure, while 60 new centres are under construction . The expansion includes setting up facilities in Primary Health Centres (PHCs) , Community Health Centres (CHCs) , and district hospitals , strengthening the reach of AYUSH services at multiple levels of the healthcare system.

Notably, new centres are being developed in key district hospitals such as Eluru, Machilipatnam, Ongole, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool, and Nandyal, with each unit being built at a cost of ₹50 lakh . Officials confirmed that all centres will adhere to Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) and will be equipped with modern infrastructure and medical equipment.

Branded as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs , these centres are expected to significantly improve access to traditional medicine while enhancing the overall efficiency of the state’s healthcare system. The minister expressed confidence that the initiative will play a crucial role in strengthening public health services across Andhra Pradesh.
