AP to Hold Statewide Medical Camps Under ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ Till October 17

Andhra Pradesh is set to hold month-long medical camps across all districts from Thursday as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, with the programme scheduled to continue until October 17, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said.

The initiative aims to take essential healthcare services closer to people through primary health centres operating across the State. Residents visiting the camps will be provided with medical examinations, treatment and other healthcare services based on their requirements. Officials will also use the camps to create awareness about various health schemes and programmes implemented by the Central and State governments.

Satya Kumar said the programme was being organised in line with the vision of ‘Swarna Bharat–Swarna Andhra Pradesh–2047’. He directed health officials to ensure that the camps go beyond medical screening and help eligible residents access government healthcare benefits.

People diagnosed with illnesses during the camps will be guided towards further treatment and follow-up care. Officials have also been asked to explain the eligibility criteria and benefits available under different healthcare schemes and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure that beneficiaries can access them.

The minister is overseeing BJP programmes in southern India being organised under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, following directions from the party leadership.

To coordinate the medical camps, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Dr Chakradhar Babu has constituted a special committee. The panel will oversee the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of the camps and finalise district-wise locations, schedules and services.

Details of visitors, medical services provided and patients identified with health conditions will be recorded online. The committee will also prepare a comprehensive district-wise report after the programme concludes. Joint Director Dr B.V. Satish Kumar has been appointed coordinating officer, while K. Shyamala, Dr T. Ramesh, Dr J. Narasimha Naik and Dr V.V.B. Subrahmanyam are members.

Dr Chakradhar Babu reviewed preparations with district medical and health officials on Wednesday. He stressed advance publicity, public awareness and mobilisation to encourage participation. He also directed officials to link examinations conducted through 104 mobile medical units in villages with the camps and ensure continued care for those requiring further treatment.
