AP Students Breathe Easy: Government Clears ₹1,200 Crore in Fee Dues

The Andhra Pradesh government has released ₹1,200 crore towards pending fee reimbursement and post-matric scholarship dues, providing significant relief to thousands of students pursuing higher education across the state.

The allocation, cleared through budget release orders issued by the Finance Department, will address arrears pertaining to the 2024–25 academic year. The funds will be routed directly to educational institutions through the concerned departments to settle outstanding fee claims.

In a policy shift from the previous YSRCP administration, which transferred assistance directly into students’ bank accounts, the current government has decided to credit the reimbursement amounts to college managements to ensure smoother financial settlement.

Education Minister Nara Lokesh announced the decision, reiterating that no student in Andhra Pradesh should be forced to discontinue education due to financial hardship. He stated that accumulated dues are being cleared in phases and assured that future payments would be made in a timely manner.

The move is expected to benefit students from economically weaker sections, backward classes, and minority communities statewide. With semester examinations approaching, the release of funds is likely to prevent delays related to hall tickets or academic certificates.

The government maintained that strengthening the higher education system in Andhra Pradesh remains a key priority and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting students through sustained financial assistance.
