AP Shines on National Stage with Top Tourism Promotion Award
Andhra Pradesh has received national recognition for its tourism initiatives after being named “Best Tourism Promotion State” by Global Travel Markets (GTM) 2026 , one of South India’s largest travel and trade expos.
Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh is on a three-day visit to Kerala to participate in the event and accept the award on behalf of the state. He will attend the expo’s inaugural session in Kovalam on June 3 and receive the Metro Expedition–GTM Tourism Award 2026 during a special ceremony on June 4 in Thiruvananthapuram .
Durgesh said the honour reflects Andhra Pradesh’s growing stature as a tourism destination and credited the state government’s policy-driven approach for the achievement. He highlighted the impact of the Tourism Policy 2024–29 , which introduced industry status for tourism, encouraged district-level tourism festivals, and strengthened the state’s outreach through digital campaigns.
The minister also acknowledged the contributions of tourism officials and the support extended by the Central Government in advancing the sector.
He expressed confidence that the recognition would enhance Andhra Pradesh’s visibility among global travel stakeholders, helping attract new investments and bring more visitors to the state.
