AP Integrates AI, Real-Time Data into India's First Monthly Economic Report

In a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at strengthening data-driven governance , the Andhra Pradesh government has launched India's first Monthly Economic Report , creating a real-time framework to monitor the state's economic performance and improve policymaking. The initiative is expected to enable continuous tracking of key economic indicators, helping the government respond swiftly to emerging challenges while enhancing administrative efficiency and accountability.

Announcing the initiative on Tuesday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the monthly report would assess the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) , revenue collections and departmental performance on a regular basis, allowing policymakers to identify gaps early and take timely corrective action. The announcement came during a high-level review meeting attended by ministers, senior bureaucrats and department heads at the State Secretariat.

Describing it as a major governance reform, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh is the first state in the country to institutionalise a monthly economic monitoring system. The government, he added, will increasingly leverage artificial intelligence (AI), digital technologies and real-time analytics to make governance more transparent, efficient and outcome-oriented as part of its broader Swarna Andhra @2047 vision.

The Chief Minister directed all departments to focus on improving citizen satisfaction through better public services and said officials' performance would be reviewed periodically to ensure accountability. He also instructed departments to achieve "zero pendency" in grievance redressal through the Praja Samasya Parishkara Vedika platform and examine whether recurring complaints require policy or legal reforms for permanent resolution.

Naidu said the government has introduced AI-powered tools to streamline administration and strengthen revenue mobilisation, claiming the reforms have contributed to a 24% increase in departmental revenue collections and nearly 20% year-on-year growth in overall receipts.

On the infrastructure front, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that electricity tariffs have not been increased under the present government and reiterated the commitment to keep power charges unchanged for five years. He also announced plans to expand solar energy , promote electric induction stoves , and mitigate the impact of global fuel price volatility.

Reviewing irrigation projects, Naidu said the Polavaram Project remains on track for completion by March 2027 . He further announced that Godavari water will reach Anakapalli through the Polavaram Left Main Canal on August 14 , while Phase I of the Veligonda Project will be inaugurated on September 1 .

The Chief Minister said the new Monthly Economic Report would shift governance from periodic reviews to continuous economic monitoring , helping Andhra Pradesh strengthen investor confidence, improve public service delivery and accelerate its transition into a leading industrial and investment destination.
