AP IAS officer’s wife dies under suspicious circumstances in Vijayawada

The wife of a senior IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre died under suspicious circumstances while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Vijayawada, triggering a police investigation.

Satya Deepika (42), wife of 2014-batch IAS officer Dr. G.K. Christ Kishore Kumar, passed away late Saturday night. She was receiving treatment for a throat infection and kidney-related problems. Hospital authorities said she was recovering, but her sudden deterioration and death have raised serious questions.

Dr. Christ Kishore Kumar is currently serving as Mission Director of the AP Mission for Clean Krishna-Godavari Canals and resides with his family at Mogalrajapuram in Vijayawada.

According to officials, Satya Deepika was first admitted to the same hospital between December 24 and 27 for kidney-related issues and was discharged after treatment. She was readmitted on December 31 due to a throat infection. Doctors reportedly informed the family that her condition was improving.

However, around 1:20 am on Saturday night, her health suddenly worsened and she died. Doctors stated that she suffered a cardiac arrest and that CPR was attempted, but without success. The family has expressed shock and disbelief over this explanation.

Notably, just a few hours before her death, Satya Deepika spoke to her sister, P. Saritha, over the phone. She reportedly said she was finding it difficult to speak due to throat pain but assured her sister that she would talk in detail after being discharged.

The hospital treated the death as a medico-legal case and informed the police. Initially, the matter appeared to have settled, but it took a turn after Saritha filed a formal complaint with the police, seeking an investigation into possible lapses in treatment or other causes behind the death.

Patamata Circle Inspector Pawan Kishore said a case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS). “We have seized hospital records, including prescriptions and treatment details. The medical protocols followed by the doctors are being thoroughly examined. The exact cause of death will be clear after the post-mortem report,” he said.

Satya Deepika is survived by her husband and two children.
