AP holds 5th District Collectors’ conference, focus on governance, development and welfare

The two-day 5th District Collectors’ Conference concluded in Amaravati on December 17-18, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The conference saw the participation of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Chief Secretary Vijay Anand, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, other ministers, district collectors, secretaries, and heads of departments.

During his opening address, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of meaningful discussions and effective review over routine formalities. He urged officials to resolve all public grievances promptly and continuously update their knowledge to improve governance. He stressed that achieving the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and sustainable development goals depends on effective implementation and data-driven decision-making. Chandrababu noted that with proper planning, a 15% growth rate is attainable through initiatives in water security, employment, and agri-tech.

Highlighting administrative challenges, the Chief Minister pointed out inefficiencies in file handling, particularly in the revenue department, and stressed the need for accountability and prompt grievance resolution.

Chandrababu also praised Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for his administrative performance. Referring to a recent example, he said that a constable who received his appointment certificate flagged the lack of a road in his village. Pawan Kalyan ensured immediate action, securing ₹3.90 crore for construction. Chandrababu highlighted this as an example of how officials can deliver tangible results when proactive and committed.

He added that every department should move toward online, data-driven governance to streamline services and ensure transparency. Initiatives delayed under previous administrations, including central government schemes, have been reintroduced and implemented effectively. Electricity charges have been reduced rather than increased, and the government is working to maintain public trust by promptly addressing grievances and providing timely updates.

The Chief Minister described district collectors as “ambassadors” of the government, playing a key role in ensuring positive public perception. He emphasized the importance of self-assessment, continuous improvement, and highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s achievements to attract investments in sectors like space, electronics, and green hydrogen. Chandrababu urged collectors to focus on delivering efficient public services to all segments of society, including women, farmers, children, and the underprivileged.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan addressed the conference, congratulating collectors for their efforts in rural development. He highlighted achievements including 4,000 km of rural roads, construction of 1.2 lakh farm ponds, distribution of ₹4,330 crore in wages under NREGA, and creation of employment for 41.12 lakh households during 2025-26. He stressed the need for continued focus on revenue generation at the panchayat level, and on enhancing governance capacities in rural areas.

Notably, Parvathipuram and Alluri districts were praised for their proactive approach in clearing forest permits and implementing local development projects, demonstrating commitment to remote tribal areas.

Finance Minister P. Kesav emphasized the government’s commitment to identifying local issues, taking them to the state level, and ensuring each district meets its GSDP targets.

Officials including Satyaprasad highlighted that past conferences had established roadmaps for achieving GSDP growth, sustainable development goals, and employment generation. With renewed focus, the government is working to rebuild the state, attract investments, provide large-scale employment, and implement anti-poverty programs. Collectors are encouraged to be vigilant in addressing grievances, overseeing land disputes, implementing revenue reforms, and ensuring efficient governance around the clock.

The conference underscored the Andhra Pradesh government’s commitment to transparent, efficient, and citizen-focused governance, while prioritizing rural development, sustainable growth, and public welfare.
